Body and paint details include Boss 429 hood scoop and custom wing and front air deflector. Entire car has been taken down to metal (no rust found) and we removed side trim for a cleaner look down the sides. The undercarriage is very structurally sound and no signs of damage or corrosion. There was one small three inch dent on the passenger quarter lowest point panel behind the rear wheel. The car entered body work with the owner and professional body shop friend in 2018 and finished with professional single stage Grabber Blue paint in 2019. The car spent its entire life in Arizona until transported by the owner to New Hampshire in 2023. Was always garaged and never driven in the rain.
Interior includes sound deadening material throughout. Have extra parts for interior to complete the project. Needs package tray, spare tire, jack, and trunk surround. Very clean Arizona trunk with zero rust and new paint.
The engine was part of the project since 2015 with a 429 Thunder-jet motor block rebuilt from a 1969 Ford Thunderbird. Engine dressed with custom aluminum valve covers and aluminum air cleaner. The exhaust is still utilizing the factory manifolds attached to an H-pipe welded dual exhaust system that has a good solid sound and tone.
The transmission is a Ford C6 and has an attached Gear Vender Overdrive that is yet to be connected. The transmission and overdrive system will both benefit from having a floor shifter added for better control of the shifts and associated electronic overdrive switching.
Rear end is a Ford 8.8 with 3:73 gear ratio.
Suspension is coil front and original style spring and shackle rear with operational air shocks from the trunk. Has achieved a good ride height in current state, but does make some noise and feels like old suspension in the rear. This car would benefit from a four link and coil over springs added to the rear.
The car has disk brakes all around and a brake booster supported with hydro-boost pump.
Wheels and tires are American Racing Type ‘Rodder’ 18x8 front and 18x9.5 while the tires are 245/45/R18 front and 295/40/R18 rear. The rear fenders have been rolled slightly to accommodate the wide tires and ride height without rubbing. The front may rub at full turn while hitting a bump or going into a driveway, so the fenders may benefit from rolling as well.
This is a great looking and very unique car. It is almost complete, just waiting for someone to complete the rest of the work per their preference.
History of the Make and Model: The 1970½ Ford Falcon, a mid-year release, represented a unique and somewhat confusing chapter in the Falcon's history. Ford introduced this model after discontinuing the standard 1970 Falcon and replacing it with the Maverick. The 1970½ Falcon was essentially a rebadged, entry-level version of the Ford Fairlane/Torino intermediate line, offered in limited production numbers. This decision resulted in two distinct vehicles bearing the Falcon name in the same model year, adding to the model's unusual story.
Origins and Purpose The 1970½ Falcon emerged as a cost-effective option for Ford dealerships, utilizing existing Fairlane/Torino components to fill the gap left by the discontinued compact Falcon. This strategy allowed Ford to offer a lower-priced intermediate car while also retaining the Falcon nameplate for a brief period.
